Best Shave Ice on the North Shore of Oahu After a Surf Lesson

By |May 7th, 2020|Uncategorized|0 Comments

Shave Ice is as synonymous with the North Shore as surfing itself. There’s no better way to cool down after a sun-soaked surf lesson than with a bowl of this Hawaiian specialty. The North Shore of Oahu is renowned for its shave ice offerings, with places like Matsumoto’s Shave Ice leading the pack. Situated in the bustling Shops At Haleiwa, Matsumoto’s is a landmark destination for both locals and visitors. To find it, simply drive through Haleiwa town and look for the crowd eagerly lined up in the courtyard of the town’s newest center (more details at Matsumoto’s Shave Ice).

If you encounter a lengthy queue at Matsumoto’s, a worthy alternative awaits just across the street. Aoki’s Shave Ice matches up in quality and taste, providing another excellent option for those seeking a sweet, icy treat. This spot is just as beloved and offers a similar range of flavors and combinations to satisfy any palate (discover more at Aoki’s Shave Ice).

For the shave ice connoisseur, a trip to Island X Hawaii at the old Waialua Sugar Mill is a must. Known for their commitment to real fruit and natural flavors, they offer an authentic and unique shave ice experience that stands […]

Learning to surf on the North Shore when the surf is big is easy with the North Shore Surf Girls Surf School because we teach you to surf in a protected cove. On the North Shore there are many many different waves to surf on. Fortunately for us and our surf students Puaena Point located on the far East side of Haleiwa Bay is super protected from the larger surf and a super easy wave to learn to surf on.

Surfing Lessons & Other Things to do in the Summer on the North Shore of Oahu

By |May 18th, 2011|Surf Happenings, Surfing Lessons & Other Things to do in the Summer on the North Shore of Oahu|0 Comments

Summer time is almost here and the North Shore of Oahu’s famous huge waves are going to sleep as the Winter moves to the Southern hemisphere.  Not to worry though the North Shore is blessed with trade winds that generate a wind swell that provides beginner surf students with the perfect size waves to learn to surf in.  (Note in the Winter when it’s big we teach surfing lessons in a cove protected from the larger surf).  While a surf lesson is a must do on the North Shore, there are many other fun activities to enjoy  as well.  For starters there are miles of beautiful white sandy beaches to explore which in the Summer are perfect for snorkeling, sea shell collecting and turtle viewing. Feel free to ask one of your surf instructors after your surf lesson for suggestions and directions to some of our secret off the beaten path beaches.

For the  more adventuress type you can go on a shark tour , deep sea fishing or take a sunset cruise all out of Haleiwa Harbor. The Harbor is located on the North-East End of the town and is easy too find.  If your  super brave  or just wanting […]

North Shore Surf & Beach Report – Mid June – 2010

By |June 28th, 2010|North Shore Surf & Beach Report - Mid June - 2010|0 Comments

The surf on the North Shore the June, has been consistent almost feeling like a long Spring.  The water has been crystal clear,  the sand clean and the Trade Winds gentle.  Really a perfect start to the Summer of 2010.  The Annual Hanapaa fishing tournament  finished up in Haleiwa Harbor with a fun lua yesterday.  There have been two major canoe races with thousands of competitors and family lining Haleiwa Beach Park.  Any rain that may bless us burns off by 10:00 am.  Haleiwa may well have the best weather in the world.  It certainly is the best place in the world for surfing lessons and to learn how to surf!

North Shore's Best Surfing Beaches

By |February 23rd, 2010|Surf Happenings|0 Comments

The best place to surf on the North Shore depends upon what kind of surfer you are. For beginner surfers Puaena Point and Freddie Land are the best places to go. If your an intermediate surfer any place up to 6 ft, except Pipeline and Rocky Rights. After the surf gets over 6 ft., every surf spot is for experts only, especially Pipeline, Sunset, Haleiwa, Waimea Bay and all outside reefs. The good news is that if your wanting to learn how to surf we teach our surfing lessons in a protected cove, so even when the surf is huge on the outside we have small and safe 1-2 ft., waves to teach you to surf on.

Learning to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu

By |October 7th, 2009|Learning to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu, Surf Happenings|0 Comments

Anyone can learn to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu, even though the Hawaii tourist board likes to promote Waikiki as the best place to learn to surf, this is only because of all the hotels and expensive shops in Honolulu. The sad truth is that the beaches in Waikiki are fake, that’s right some of the sand was even mined from the North Shore’s famous Waimea Bay. The North Shore of Oahu on the other hand boast miles and miles of natural white sand beaches and has been official designated by the State of Hawaii Government as the Surfing Capitol of the World. The North Shore Surf Girls can teach you to surf even when the surf is big because we take you to a protected cove just outside of the Historic Haleiwa Town. You will lean to surf in gental rolling waves with protected green sea turtles swimming around you.

The views are amazing too. Kaiena Point, not a good place to learn to surf by the way, is visible from both the surfing lineup and the shore line. Mt. Kahala the tallest point on Oahu is also visible while you learn to […]
