At North Shore Surf Girls, teaching people to surf is more than a business — it’s a calling to share the joy, respect, and heritage of Hawaiʻi’s ocean culture.
We believe that ethical surf lessons start with mālama i ke kai — caring for the sea — and extend to caring for our community and everyone we teach.
Respect for the Ocean
We teach our students to be mindful ocean users — to read the waves, respect marine life, and protect Hawaiʻi’s fragile coastal ecosystems. Our team uses reef-safe products, limits class sizes, and supports local beach cleanups and conservation efforts.
Honoring Surfing’s Hawaiian Roots
Surfing was born here in Hawaiʻi. We honor its cultural legacy by teaching with humility, gratitude, and aloha. Every lesson includes a sense of history — connecting modern surfers to the ancient practice of heʻe nalu, riding waves in rhythm with nature.
Community and Local Connection
We are proud to be a locally owned and operated surf school. Our instructors live, surf, and volunteer on the North Shore, and we actively support community events, youth programs, and small local businesses. When you surf with us, you’re helping keep aloha alive right here in Haleʻiwa.
Safety, Integrity & Empowerment
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism and safety. Every instructor is experienced, ocean-trained, and insured. We believe surfing should build confidence — especially for women and families — and our mission is to help every student feel strong, capable, and connected to the sea.
