Surf Lesson & Turtle Tour FAQs

Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your lesson start time for a full refund or free reschedule. If North Shore Surf Girls cancels due to surf or weather conditions, you choose: a full refund, a free reschedule to any future date, or a North Shore Surf Girls gift card. No-shows are non-refundable, but we can usually reschedule with advance notice — even inside the 24-hour window — so please call or text us the moment you know. Late arrivals are accommodated to the best of our ability, especially when traffic is the cause.

Our Oʻahu Surf Lesson & Turtle Tour is a guided 1.5-hour experience that combines a beginner-friendly surf lesson at Puaena Point or Chunʻs Reef with respectful viewing of Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) at a nearby beach in Haleʻiwa — a one-stop way to experience two of the North Shore’s most iconic moments in a single outing.

The Oʻahu Surf Lesson & Turtle Tour is 1.5 hours total and starts at $189 per person, including instruction, all surf equipment, and the guided turtle-viewing portion. Pricing and start times are confirmed when you book.

We bring you to a Haleʻiwa-area beach where Hawaiian green sea turtles regularly haul out to rest in the sand or feed in the shallows. The exact viewing location depends on daily conditions, tides, and where the honu are showing up — your guide picks the best spot the day of your tour.

We can’t guarantee wild turtle sightings, but the Haleʻiwa coast is one of the most reliable places in Hawaiʻi to see honu and our success rate is very high. If turtles aren’t present at one viewing spot, your guide will move to backup locations during your tour.

Hawaiian green sea turtles are protected under federal law, and the State of Hawaiʻi requires keeping a minimum distance of 10 feet (3 meters) on land and in the water. We never touch, feed, chase, or block the path of a turtle — your guide helps you observe them respectfully so the experience remains here for future generations.

This experience is family-friendly and beginner-friendly. Children who can stand on a board and follow basic safety instructions can take part in the surf portion, and the turtle viewing is suitable for all ages — including grandparents who prefer to enjoy the wildlife from the beach.

Each booking includes a certified North Shore Surf Girls instructor, a soft-top surfboard, a rash guard, a leash, and the guided turtle viewing. Please bring reef-safe sunscreen, drinking water, a towel, and a change of clothes. Photos are available for an additional fee.
