The Triple Crown of Surfing starts on November 12, 2017 with the Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa Beach and finishes up with the Billabong Pipe Masters from December 8th – 20th, 2017. The Pipe Masters is the final event on the Men’s World Championship Tour and will determine the new world champion for pro surfing.
Congratulations to Maui Surfer Girl, Paige Alms for winning the 20217 Pe’ahi Challenge. As the picture below shows the waves where big and all the competitors charged! North Shore Surf Girls love this. It’s been a long time coming but it looks like women’s surfing is finally coming of age.
Hawaii Congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbard joined the competitors for the opening ceremony of the first ever all women’s event to be held at Waimea Bay.
NBC’s reboot of Blue Crush will also be a story of female empowerment and ambition, set on Hawaii’s North Shore. After a tragic accident, a surfer will work to revive her career and help save her local community, which is being threatened by commercialism and shady surf politics. So it goes…We like the female empowerment angle a lot and really enjoyed getting to work on the original movie.
Red Bull saves the day for women’s big wave surfing’s first ever all female event at Waimea Bay on the North Shore Oahu. Featuring 30 of the best and bravest women surfers in the world this event is long over due. Big congratulations to Betty Depolito for continuing to lead the way for women’s surfing on the North Shore. We at North Shore Surf Girl’s are so stoked on this contest and wish all of the competitors the best of luck and safety.

Learning to surf on the North Shore of Oahu in the winter months is safe because we teach you to surf in a protected cove. With that said it can be very dangerous for beginner surfers to surf with out a surf coach or in a surf lessons. When in doubt don’t paddle out…
A group surfing lesson as part of a corporate retreat is an excellent team building exercise. Your parties surfing lesson will likely be the highlight of your time in Hawaii. We can handle groups up to 40 people and offer the option of having lunch catered at the beach. It’s the perfect way to spend the day!

ABOUT THE CAMP: Our CPR, AED and lifeguard certified surf instructors will teach surfing to all levels, surf etiquette, ocean safety and awareness.. We offer a minimum 5:1 ratio but give one on one attention where we see fit and depend on the student and parent to express their concerns and expectations. We spend most of our time in the water but spend some time on the beach teaching too, our goal is to encourage all campers to learn water skills and become strong waterman and lifelong surfers.
WHAT TO BRING: lunch, snacks, bottle water, towel, hat, sunscreen and bathing suite. We provide long sleeve surf shirts and all surfing equipment.

The World Surf League took a gigantic step towards gender equality in announcing that it will include a single women’s professional big wave contest this surf season. Big wave surfing in recent years has seen a huge surge in women surfers charging waves over 20 feet Hawaiian. Following in the footsteps of unheralded hero’s like Phylis Dameron who charged gigantic Waimea Bay in the 70’s and 80’s on a 39 inch piece of foam also know as a bodyboard, today’s young ladies charge hard on modern surfboards and are growing in number each season.
