Must Know Surfing Tips!

Choose the right equipment:

Select a surfboard, leash, and wetsuit suitable for your size and skill level. Ensure a proper fit and comfort. It’s important to note that these length and volume ranges can vary based on factors such as a surfer’s skill level, weight, and wave conditions. Beginning surfers often consult with surf instructors, local shapers or surf shop experts to determine the most appropriate board length for their specific needs.

Learn the basics:

Familiarize yourself with essential techniques such as paddling, popping up, and riding waves. Consider taking beginner’s surf lessons to learn these fundamentals from qualified instructors.

Start in small waves:

Begin your surfing journey in smaller waves appropriate for your skill level. Practice paddling and popping up on the board in the white water before attempting to catch an actual breaking wave. Small waves generally have slower speeds and less power compared to larger waves. This provides a safer environment for beginners to learn and practice surfing without facing the risk of being overwhelmed by strong currents or powerful waves.

Prioritize safety:

Always surf with a buddy and stay within your limits. Be aware of potential hazards like rocks or strong currents. Respect fellow surfers and adhere to beach rules. Additionally, protect […]

By |November 27th, 2014|Thoughts on Surfing|0 Comments

Surfing is more than just a sport. It creates perfect harmony for body, mind and spirit with nature. Floating on your board with your legs in the clear blue water and the warm sun on your back, your only thought is about the next wave. When it comes you feel a rush of adrenaline as you are pushed forward by the force of the ocean and triumphantly stand up on your board to ride the wave. You can’t help but smile.

Your first lesson is usually accompanied by some nervousness of the unknown. “Can I do this? Will I be able to stand up? What if I fall?” That’s why an experienced dedicated instructor is key to making your surf experience delightful. With full interactive instruction and coaching on land about the best surf technique, local expertise on the waves and currents, safety review and lots of time for questions, you will enter the water with confidence.

At the end of your lesson your body will be tired but your spirit will be energized and your mind clear. You will soon discover that surfing is like Hawaii. Absolute bliss in paradise.

Learning to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu

By |October 7th, 2009|Learning to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu, Surf Happenings|0 Comments

Anyone can learn to Surf in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu, even though the Hawaii tourist board likes to promote Waikiki as the best place to learn to surf, this is only because of all the hotels and expensive shops in Honolulu. The sad truth is that the beaches in Waikiki are fake, that’s right some of the sand was even mined from the North Shore’s famous Waimea Bay. The North Shore of Oahu on the other hand boast miles and miles of natural white sand beaches and has been official designated by the State of Hawaii Government as the Surfing Capitol of the World. The North Shore Surf Girls can teach you to surf even when the surf is big because we take you to a protected cove just outside of the Historic Haleiwa Town. You will lean to surf in gental rolling waves with protected green sea turtles swimming around you.

The views are amazing too. Kaiena Point, not a good place to learn to surf by the way, is visible from both the surfing lineup and the shore line. Mt. Kahala the tallest point on Oahu is also visible while you learn to […]
